Professional  Bodies:

I became a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing back in the mid-90s and was Elected Chartered Marketer  in both 2000/1 and 2001/2. Whilst being good fun and educational the benefits of membership of this erstwhile body were always marginal and as I now spend most of my time overseas I choose not to retain it.

I joined the  the Institute of Energy in the 1970s as a junior member. After qualifying I became and remained an Associate Member of the Institute of Energy for a long time. I served for a while on the Midlands Branch committee attempting to improve the measurable benefits of membership and during this period, in March 2000, was elected Member . Membership of the Institute of Energy is now, of course, impossible.

Likewise, I was a member of the North Staffs Fuel Society for many years and for a few of years until my move away from North Staffordshire acted as secretary organising speakers, events and visits. Sadly, I believe this society is no longer active.

I was first Registered with the Engineering Council in 1987 as Technician Engineer then later became an Incorporated Engineer. As I do not now pay to be a member of a recognised institution I cannot be an 'Engineer' and registration must, by now, be discontinued.
